Vicky Kaushal’s latest film, “Chhaava,” a historical action drama, is set to receive a special screening in Parliament, according to reports. The event, scheduled for Thursday, March 27th, will take place at the Balayogi Auditorium within the Parliament Library building.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with union ministers and Members of Parliament, are expected to attend the screening. The film’s cast and crew, including lead actor Vicky Kaushal, are also slated to be present.
“Chhaava” features Vicky Kaushal in the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha empire.
This parliamentary screening follows recent praise from Prime Minister Modi for the film. Speaking at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (ABMSS) in February, PM Modi acknowledged the significant contributions of Maharashtra and Mumbai to Marathi and Hindi cinema, stating, “Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai (Chhaava is making headlines everywhere right now).”
Vicky Kaushal expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister’s recognition by sharing a video of the event on Instagram, writing, “Honoured beyond words! Grateful to Hon. PM Narendra Modi ji. #Chhaava.” Co-star Rashmika Mandanna, who portrays Yesubai in the film, also shared her appreciation on Instagram Stories, saying, “Thank you so much @narendramodi sir, it’s truly an honour.”
“Chhaava,” produced by Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, tells the story of Sambhaji Maharaj and his unwavering courage in defending his faith and country.
The film, which also stars Akshaye Khanna, Diana Penty, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Ashutosh Rana, was released in theaters on February 14th. To date, the film has reportedly earned over ₹700 crore, according to Sacnilk.com.
