Rahul Bhatt, son of veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, recently opened up about his views on his half-sister Alia Bhatt and his full sister Pooja Bhatt in an interview that has sparked considerable buzz. Speaking to Hindi Rush, Rahul made a series of bold remarks, comparing the two actresses and expressing a clear preference for his sister Pooja in terms of talent, personality, and overall impact.
Rahul didn’t shy away from stating that while Alia has achieved immense fame and success in the industry, in his eyes, she doesn’t measure up to Pooja when it comes to raw talent and charisma. “Alia has a lot going for her,” he acknowledged. “She is backed by a strong universe, understands the dynamics of PR, and knows how to position herself in the industry. When someone has all the right tools, the universe does tend to support them.”
However, despite Alia’s stardom and widespread admiration, Rahul’s praise seemed reserved for Pooja Bhatt. “If you ask me honestly, Alia isn’t even close to Pooja in terms of acting prowess, beauty, or that magnetic screen presence. Compared to Pooja, Alia is like paani kam chai—lacking in flavor,” he said, using a colloquial Hindi expression to underscore his point.

Rahul further emphasized that Pooja Bhatt has carried forward their father’s legacy in a far more meaningful way. “If anyone has truly embodied the spirit and creativity of Mahesh Bhatt, it’s Pooja. She has always been bold, original, and deeply committed to her craft. She didn’t just act—she left an impression, and she lived by her values,” he stated.
Interestingly, despite his sharp opinions, Rahul maintains a respectful relationship with Alia. He acknowledged that her life has evolved significantly, especially after marriage and motherhood. “We’re on cordial terms. I don’t make assumptions or expect casual interactions. She’s a mother now, very successful, and lives a structured life. You can’t just call her up and say ‘Hey, I’m dropping by.’ I respect that,” he said.
He also praised Alia for being a devoted family member. “She’s doing a wonderful job caring for our other sister Shaheen. I really admire that. It’s not easy juggling so much and still being there for your siblings.”
