Producer’s Fillers Request Triggers Violent Impulse in Kalki Koechlin: ‘I wanted to stab producer with fork,’ actress recounts.

Kalki Koechlin Counters Sexist Fillers Suggestion, Affirms Self-Acceptance of Natural Aging.

In a recent interview with BBC World Service, Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin shared a jarring experience with a producer who suggested she get fillers for her laughter lines. She further emphasized her comfort with wrinkles and her rejection of altering her natural appearance.

Koechlin recalled a lunch meeting where the producer, while making a remark about his ex-girlfriend’s (a well-known actress) overreliance on Botox, directly advised her to get fillers. “He was like, ‘All you need is a little filler for your laughter line.’ I wanted to stab him with my fork—we were having lunch. But I held myself back and said, ‘Well, I’d better stop smiling, laughing so much.’ So I think my approach has been to take it with a pinch of salt and have some humour about it,” she recounted.

The actress highlighted the escalating pressure faced by women, exacerbated by social media’s promotion of unrealistic beauty standards. However, she also noted a positive trend: more women are pursuing careers later in life, particularly after raising children. While acknowledging the challenging phase of balancing work, family, and aging parents, Koechlin expressed optimism about the growing number of women in their 50s and 60s embracing new opportunities and career paths.
