In a recent interview, actress Pooja Hegde revealed the emotional toll trolling has taken on her and her family. The actor was shocked to learn that people were being paid to target her online, a reality that opened her eyes to the darker side of the entertainment world. In her conversation with Filmfare, Pooja shared her experiences with negative PR strategies and the effect of social media trolling.
Pooja shared how deeply it affected her family, saying, “When I found out about it, my parents and I were very bothered. But I also took it as a compliment because if someone feels the need to pull you down, it means you are above them. I kept reassuring my parents that it was okay. But after a point, it became too much. I found out that people were spending lakhs just to troll me.”
What shocked Pooja even further was discovering that the trolling was a well-funded operation. She instructed her team to investigate the source, and they found that individuals were being paid to spread negativity.
On the work front, Pooja Hegde’s recent film Deva with Shahid Kapoor did not perform well at the box office, receiving a lukewarm response from critics. However, she is looking forward to her next project, where she stars alongside Varun Dhawan in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which is being marketed as a commercial entertainer.
