Malayalam cinema’s beloved star Nazriya Nazim finally addressed her sudden and prolonged absence from both public life and social media, leaving fans both emotional and relieved. The actress, who had been noticeably missing from major personal milestones and professional events in recent months, shared a heartfelt note explaining the reasons behind her withdrawal.
In an emotional Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Nazriya revealed that she has been navigating a difficult phase, both emotionally and personally, which prompted her to step away from the limelight. “I’ve always loved being a part of this beautiful online family, staying connected with all of you,” she wrote. “But over the past few months, I’ve been dealing with some deep personal challenges that affected my ability to stay present and engaged, both online and in real life.”
The actress went on to apologize for her sudden disappearance, revealing that her silence extended even to her closest friends and colleagues. She confessed that she missed out on some significant moments — including her 30th birthday, New Year’s celebrations, and even the success of her recent film Sookshmadarshini. “I want to say sorry to my friends for not picking up calls or replying to messages, and to my colleagues for being unavailable for work-related commitments. I truly went off the grid and I understand how this might have caused concern or inconvenience,” Nazriya wrote.
While Nazriya admitted that she is still on the path to emotional recovery, she wanted to assure her fans and well-wishers that she is slowly finding her strength again. “I felt it was important to offer an explanation for my absence — especially to the people who’ve shown me endless support and love over the years,” she shared. “I still need some more time to fully heal, but I am getting there, one day at a time.”
Amid her personal reflections, Nazriya also celebrated a silver lining in her journey — being honored with the Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Actor for her performance in Sookshmadarshini. Expressing gratitude, she wrote, “Winning this award has brought a little light into these challenging days. Thank you to everyone who believed in me, and congratulations to all the fellow nominees and winners.”
Her post was quickly met with an outpouring of love and encouragement from industry colleagues. Samantha Ruth Prabhu responded with a heart emoji, while Vijay Varma wrote a warm note wishing her love and healing. Actor Tovino Thomas also joined in, sending virtual hugs and well-wishes.
Nazriya’s last appearance on the big screen was in Sookshmadarshini, a gripping mystery thriller co-starring Basil Joseph, along with Akhila Bhargavan, Merin Philip, and Pooja Mohanraj in pivotal roles. The film was a critical and commercial success, further solidifying Nazriya’s place as one of Malayalam cinema’s finest talents.
