Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra recently performed a parody of a well-known song from Dil Toh Pagal Hai, seemingly labeling Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde a “traitor.” His act has sparked controversy, with actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut strongly criticizing his remarks. Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Ranaut expressed her disapproval of Kamra’s approach, stating that ridiculing someone under the guise of comedy is in poor taste.

“Disrespecting individuals in the name of humor is unacceptable,” she said. “Eknath Shinde, who once worked as an auto-rickshaw driver, has worked hard to reach where he is today. Instead of acknowledging that, some people choose to demean his journey. What has Kamra accomplished? What are his credentials?”

Ranaut further argued that if comedians have the talent to write, they should contribute to literature or film scripts rather than resorting to personal attacks. “Comedy should not be about hurling insults, disrespecting our traditions, or mocking people and their families,” she asserted.

The debate over Kamra’s satire continues to gain traction, with differing opinions on the limits of comedy and political critique.
