The much-anticipated trailer for Gopichand Malineni’s Hindi directorial debut, “Jaat,” starring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, dropped on Monday, igniting a wave of excitement and speculation. The trailer paints a vivid picture of a high-octane action thriller, showcasing Sunny Deol’s titular character as a force of righteous fury, determined to dismantle Randeep Hooda’s tyrannical control over a downtrodden territory.
The nearly three-minute trailer plunges viewers into the gritty world of “Jaat,” introducing “Ranatunga ki Lanka,” a lawless domain ruled by Randeep Hooda’s menacing character. The narrative unfolds with the discovery of numerous bodies buried in a field, prompting Saiyami Kher’s determined police officer to investigate Ranatunga’s sinister involvement. Regena Cassandrra’s character ominously declares that even divine forces fear to tread in this corrupted land.
However, the arrival of Sunny Deol’s “Jaat” signals a turning tide. Hinted at a past incarceration, he is described by Upendra Limaye as an “atom bomb,” a force of unbridled power. The trailer culminates with Deol delivering a powerful declaration, “Ye dhai kilo ke haath ki taakat pura north dekh chuka hain. Ab south dekhega,” (“The north has already seen the power of this two-and-a-half-kilo arm. Now, the south will see it”), a clear callback to his iconic dialogue, promising a display of raw, unadulterated strength.
The trailer’s reception has been a mix of enthusiastic praise and playful speculation. Online platforms like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) buzzed with reactions, ranging from admiration for the film’s “mass BGM” and “dialogue baazi” to comparisons with other action films. Some viewers even humorously suggested that the script might have originally been intended for Balakrishna, given the film’s high-octane action sequences. One user on X even made the comparison between the Sikandar trailer and the Jaat trailer, saying that the Jaat trailer delivered what the Sikandar trailer should have.
“Jaat” boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Viineet Kumar Siingh, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Ramya Krishnan, and Swarupa Ghosh, alongside Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Saiyami Kher, and Regena Cassandrra. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, the film features a dynamic musical score by Thaman S.
Director Gopichand Malineni, in a statement to Hindustan Times following the film’s announcement in 2024, expressed his confidence in the project. “More than nervous about my Bollywood debut, I feel confident that it’ll be a good film,” he stated. “I wrote the script knowing it’ll be perfect for someone like Sunny. It’s not just about the mass elements my films usually have; it’s going to be a racy script with a touch of realism. He’s a big action hero, I’m a mass director, and we have the perfect script.”
“Jaat” is poised to unleash its explosive action on cinema screens on April 10th, promising a thrilling cinematic experience for audiences.
