he All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has strongly condemned Pakistani actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan for their recent remarks concerning Operation Sindoor — a military operation that has been widely covered and supported across India. The association expressed outrage over what it considers to be insensitive and objectionable statements made by the two celebrities regarding the mission.
In a statement released earlier this week, AICWA emphasized that such comments are not only disrespectful to the Indian Armed Forces but also deeply offensive to the sentiments of millions of Indians. The association accused the actors of undermining the sacrifices made by the military personnel involved in the operation, labeling their words as “irresponsible and anti-national.”
The controversy erupted after excerpts of interviews and social media posts featuring Mahira and Fawad went viral, in which they allegedly questioned the intent and execution of Operation Sindoor. While both actors have not issued official clarifications yet, the backlash has been swift and widespread. Nationalistic voices across social media have demanded accountability, and AICWA has taken a firm stance, calling on all filmmakers, producers, and studios to refrain from working with the two Pakistani stars.
In its official response, AICWA has appealed to the Indian entertainment industry to impose a strict ban on Mahira and Fawad, stating that there is no room for individuals who “disrespect the integrity of the nation or speak against the valor of its armed forces.” The association also reiterated its long-standing position against the inclusion of Pakistani artists in Indian projects, especially during times of heightened political and military sensitivity.
This is not the first time the involvement of Pakistani actors in Indian cinema has sparked debate. Previous incidents have led to similar calls for bans and boycotts, especially in the wake of tensions between the two countries. However, the recent controversy surrounding Operation Sindoor appears to have reignited the discussion with renewed intensity.
AICWA has also urged regulatory authorities and film certification bodies to remain vigilant and ensure that no work featuring actors with alleged anti-India sentiments receives a platform in the country.
As of now, Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan have not responded to the growing criticism or the ban demands. The entertainment community awaits their official stance, even as the debate continues to grow louder on both traditional and digital media platforms.
