Veteran actress and social activist Kunickaa Sadanand has openly criticized Kangana Ranaut for what she describes as “baseless and disrespectful” remarks against the Hindi film industry. In a recent conversation, Kunickaa didn’t mince her words as she addressed Kangana’s repeated criticism of Bollywood, accusing the actress of hypocrisy and lack of gratitude.
“Kangana jis thaali mein khaati hai, ussi mein chhed karti hai,” Kunickaa remarked — invoking the well-known Hindi proverb that loosely translates to “biting the hand that feeds you.” She was referring to Kangana’s frequent statements painting Bollywood in a negative light, alleging everything from nepotism to corruption, while continuing to be a part of the same industry that brought her fame and success.
Kunickaa expressed her disappointment over the consistent negativity in Kangana’s tone when speaking about her colleagues and the very platform that made her a star. “It’s very easy to talk rubbish about the industry when you’ve already made a name for yourself through the same system,” she said. “Bollywood has many problems, yes — like any industry. But it also provides opportunities, livelihoods, and a space for talent to rise, just like it did for Kangana.”
She added that Kangana’s journey from a small town to superstardom is in itself a proof that Bollywood does recognize and nurture talent, even from outside the so-called privileged circles. “She is one of the biggest examples of an outsider making it big. So where is this hatred coming from now?” Kunickaa questioned.
Over the years, Kangana Ranaut has become known not just for her strong performances on screen but also for her unfiltered opinions, often sparking fierce debates in public discourse. Her outspoken nature, while applauded by some, has also drawn criticism for being overly confrontational and accusatory — especially toward fellow actors, producers, and filmmakers.
Kunickaa stressed the need for actors, especially those who have benefitted from the platform, to be more responsible and constructive in their criticism. “If you truly love this industry and want it to grow, you must learn to build, not just break. Constant mudslinging helps no one — not the people in it, not the audiences, and certainly not the image of Indian cinema globally,” she said.
She also pointed out the irony of Kangana continuing to work within Bollywood while simultaneously vilifying it at every opportunity. “You can’t keep taking from something and simultaneously tarnishing its reputation. It’s time to show some accountability.”
Kunickaa’s comments have resonated with many industry insiders and fans who have grown weary of Kangana’s ongoing feuds and statements. While some continue to support Kangana for speaking her mind, others agree that her approach often comes across as destructive rather than constructive.
As the debate around Bollywood’s inner workings continues, Kunickaa’s sharp critique adds another layer to the conversation — one that demands reflection, maturity, and a sense of responsibility from those who hold influence within the industry.
For now, the spotlight remains on both actresses — one continuing to challenge the system, and the other urging for more respect toward the journey that shaped them both.
