Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has made the heartfelt decision to postpone his much-anticipated Bollywood Big One tour, originally scheduled for May 4th and 5th in the UK, following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The attack, which occurred in the scenic Baisaran Valley, resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent tourists, and its impact has been deeply felt across India and beyond.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, Salman posted the official tour poster, which prominently featured stars such as Sara Ali Khan, Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Kriti Sanon, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, and Maniesh Paul, alongside himself. The word “postponed” was stamped over the poster, marking the postponement of the much-anticipated events due to the ongoing period of national mourning.
Salman expressed his sorrow in the caption: “In light of the heartbreaking events in Kashmir, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Bollywood Big One shows in Manchester and London that were set for May 4th and 5th. We recognize how excited our fans were for these performances, but given the collective grief that surrounds us, we feel it is the right thing to do to pause for now.”
He further apologized for the inconvenience caused, adding: “We regret any disappointment this may cause and thank our supporters for their understanding. We will update everyone with new dates for the events soon and are eager to meet our fans once we have rescheduled the shows.”
The decision follows the tragic attack on April 22 in which terrorists targeted tourists in Kashmir, segregating them based on their religious beliefs before executing the brutal attack. The militant group The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for this deadly assault. The massacre has sent shockwaves throughout India, with many expressing their anger and sorrow over the senseless loss of life.
The reverberations of this attack have led other prominent figures in the entertainment industry to make similar decisions. Along with Salman Khan, renowned musicians like Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal have also opted to cancel or reschedule their performances to show respect for the victims of this tragedy and to join in the collective period of reflection.
On April 25, Shreya Ghoshal announced the cancellation of her concert in Surat, which had been planned for April 26. Sharing a message on her social media, the singer wrote: “In light of the horrific events in Kashmir, the organizers and I have mutually decided to cancel the show in Surat. We hope you understand that this is a time for reflection and respect.”
Shreya also reassured ticket holders, offering them a full refund. She encouraged anyone with further questions to contact the event organizers via the provided email address.
This collective response from celebrities in the entertainment industry—postponing and canceling events in solidarity with the victims—underscores the role of public figures in moments of national tragedy. Their actions serve as a reminder that the arts and entertainment, while a source of joy and celebration, can also be platforms for expressing empathy and standing united during times of crisis.
As India continues to mourn the loss of innocent lives in Kashmir, fans are hopeful that the postponed events will be rescheduled in the future, allowing for a celebration of life and creativity once the nation has had time to heal. For now, the focus remains on honoring the memory of those who lost their lives and supporting their families as the country seeks justice and peace.
