New Delhi:
Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar has been making headlines for his remarkable weight loss journey, a transformation that has sparked both admiration and speculation. While the internet has been buzzing with rumors suggesting the use of weight-loss medication, Johar has now clarified — once again — that his fitter physique is the result of a disciplined lifestyle, not drugs.
During a recent Instagram live session, Karan candidly opened up about what inspired his fitness overhaul. He revealed that his wake-up call came when routine health checkups showed imbalances in his blood work. Determined to improve his well-being, he adopted a stricter, more mindful approach to both food and exercise.
The celebrated director shared that one of the key shifts in his lifestyle was embracing intermittent fasting, reducing his food intake to just a single meal a day. Alongside this, he committed to an active routine, staying fit with regular games of paddleball and swimming — both activities he credits for helping him shed excess weight and stay in shape.
This isn’t the first time Karan has been quizzed about his physical transformation. Back in March, while attending the IIFA Digital Awards, the filmmaker faced similar questions on the green carpet. When asked about the secret behind his fit new avatar, Karan responded with a smile, “It’s all about eating healthy, exercising regularly, and simply taking care of yourself.”
Pressed for more specifics, Karan playfully declined to share further details, joking, “If I tell you everything, where’s the mystery?”
The conversation around his weight loss also recently flared up on social media, especially after an X (formerly Twitter) user linked his transformation to the diabetes medication Ozempic. The comment referenced a moment from the Netflix show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, where Maheep Kapoor criticized celebrities for using the drug as a weight-loss shortcut, and the user wondered if Karan should be called out as well, given his involvement as the show’s producer.
Not one to stay silent, Karan responded directly to the post, shutting down the assumptions. He wrote, “It’s about being healthy, eating mindfully, and reworking your own approach to nutrition! Aur Ozempic ko mile credit???” He even tagged Maheep Kapoor in the same post, lightheartedly asking, “Were you talking about me?”
On the professional front, Karan marked his return to filmmaking with RockyAur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani in 2023, after a break of seven years from the director’s chair — proving that along with his career, his personal health journey is also thriving.
